Game Introduction:
Jackal, also known as Top Gunner, is a classic overhead run'n'gun shoot-'em-up arcade game by Konami. Now you can play it online! In this action-packed game, you control an armed jeep as part of an elite unit of four soldiers: Colonel Decker, Lieutenant Bob, Sergeant Quint, and Corporal Grey. Your mission is to drive into hostile territory to rescue prisoners of war (POWs) from internment camps and extract them to safety. The game features a continuous level that takes you through diverse environments like ancient ruins, lakes, hills, and mountains before reaching the enemy headquarters. You can play alone or with a friend, as the game supports two-player simultaneous play. The objective is to penetrate the enemy's main headquarters and destroy their ultimate weapon. Along the way, you'll collect POWs to upgrade your grenade launcher into a powerful missile launcher. The game ends when you complete your mission or run out of replacement jeeps. A map at the game over screen shows your progress. Remember to have fun!
How to Play:
Use the eight-way joystick to move your jeep. Press the first attack button to fire the machine gun turret, which always shoots northward. Use the second attack button to launch grenades in the direction your jeep is facing. Collect POWs from internment camps to upgrade your grenade launcher into a missile launcher. Each upgrade increases its reach and power, allowing it to fire shrapnel rounds that spread in two or four directions. You can carry up to eight POWs at a time; drive to a heliport to extract them and earn points. Extracting eight POWs in a row upgrades your missile launcher. Your jeep can run over foot soldiers but is destroyed by enemy projectiles or collisions. When destroyed, a replacement jeep appears, and your missile launcher downgrades by one level. Surviving POWs from a destroyed jeep spread out for pickup. An extra jeep is awarded at certain point thresholds. The game continues until you complete the mission or lose all jeeps.
